Tobacco. After the civil war, the new cash crop in town became cotton especially with the invention of the cotton gin which really boosted slave labor even more. But BEFORE the civil war Tobacco was the mother of cash crops!

Tobaco. After the civil war therewas no slavery so no more cheap labor for tobaco plantations so tobaco industry doed
