The primary cause of the for the first Persian war originated from a Greek Ionians revolt. It was prompted by Aristagoras, economic burdens, and a feeling of being mistreated by the Empire. During the rebellion, Sardis, one of the Persian capital cities was burnt down. This event not only made the Persians more hostile toward Greece but provoked an invasion of Greece by the Persian Army in 492 B.C.
