Thomas Jefferson

Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson fought for the title of president in the election of 1800, and it was a split. They were tied, and turned to Alexander Hamilton, who ran the Treasury of State, for a final vote. Although, Hamilton and Burr were longtime friends, Jefferson was elected.
