Nuclear reaction

It is a process in which atoms collide with other atoms and lose some of their original mass.

By principle of energy conservation the lost mass must reappear and generate energy.

We know that Einstein's equation E = mc².

The fission and fusion are the two types of nuclear reactions.

The fission reaction

In a fission reaction, a large atomic nucleus is split into smaller nuclei, other particles and radiation.

An atom of uranium 235 absorbs a neutron and it splits into two lighter atoms which are,

1) barium

2) krypton

And emitting radiation and neutrons.
