A bag contains white marbles and yellow marbles, 45 in total. The number of white marbles is 5 less than 4 times the number of yellow marbles. How many white marbles are there?

45-5=40
40÷4=10
so there are 10 white marbles
but am not sure is just a question that am not sure

4y + 5 = 45

Subtract 5 from both sides

4y = 40

Divide for from both sides

y = 10

Plug in 10 to get 40 yellow marbles then subtract by 5 to get 35 marbles

Thus there are only 10 yellow marbles
