The counter culture of the 1960´s was a whole anti-establishment movement rooted mainly in San Francisco and New York. It is called counterculture as it put to test most accepted values of the time, which gave rise to alternative lifestyles like the ones of the hippies. As anti-establishment it was specially anti war, provoking protests against the war in all the U.S.
