Tupac Yupanqui (1441- 1493) was the tenth Inca and successor of Pachacútec. He spent most of his time in war campaigns of conquest or "pacification", and explored remote lands . These explorations took him to Quito (capital of Ecuador) to the north, the Maule River (central zone of Chile) for the south.
