Polluted rivers, lakes, and springs are no longer viable sources of groundwater. Urbanization has concentrated large populations in areas that might not have direct access to surface water or that might have a larger demand for freshwater than surface water can supply.

we are running out of water above ground because of global warming causing a lot of resources to go away which makes us start to use groundwater since it is not affected by global warming as much but is affected by chemicals and bad filtration
