Why are English speakers more dispersed throughout the world than speakers of the other dominant language, Chinese? The British and Americans tended to trade more than the Chinese. The Chinese government forbids its citizens from learning other world languages. Great Britain brought English to the colonies it founded across the world. English is easier to speak than Chinese because it is not a phonetic language. English shares more words in common with other languages across the world.
