y=1.5= the cost of each embroidered letter.

For your name : x+6y=29

x=29-6y --(i)

For your frd's name : x+3y=24.5

Substitute (i) into x+3y=24.5

29-6y+3y=24.5, y=1.5

x=29-(6*1.5)=20
