Mitosis is the duplication of the cells. This takes places in the NUCLEUS of the dividing cell. The steps are as follows: PROPHASE, METAPHASE, ANAPHASE, and TELOPHASE. This forms two brand new nuclei, in which they both have the same number of chromosomes as the PARENT NUCLEUS. Hope this helps.
