If the wrecking ball was raised three stories, the potential energy would be most affected. Gravitational potential energy is stored energy based upon the object's mass and position. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion and is dependent upon the mass and velocity of the object. The height of the wrecking ball has no effect on thermal or chemical energy.
