Make sure you FOIL (x-2)^2 first:

x^2 - 4x + 4

Now distribute the 3:

Now distribute the 2 in the 2(x-2):

3x^2 - 12x + 12 - 2x + 4 + 1

Combine like terms:

3x^2 - 14x + 17 = f(x-2)
