Like the Pilgrims, the Puritans were English Protestants who felt that the reforms of the Church of England were not sufficient. In 1630, the Puritans left for America. Unlike the Pilgrims who had left in 1620, the Puritans did not split from the Church of England, but instead attempted to change it.
