Answer: 1) 2 r+ 1.60 b = 10

2) r(b) = 5 - 0.8 b

3) b(r) = 1/0.8(5 - r)

Explanation:

Here, b be the number of pounds of beans Lin buys and (r) be the number of pounds of rice she buys when spending all her money on the meal.

Brown rice costs $2 per pound, and beans cost $1.60 per pound. Lin has $10 to spend on these items.

Therefore, 2 r+ 1.60 b = 10

Which is the required expression.

Now for making b as independent, we can write the above expression,

2 r = 10 - 1.60 b

r(b) = 5 - 0.8 b

For making r as independent we can write the above expression,

1.60 b = 10 - 2 r

b(r) = 1/1.6(10 - 2 r)= 1/0.8(5 - r)
