1. The denominator of a fraction exceeds the numerator by 5. If 3 is added to both, the fraction becomes 3/4. Write an equation to represent this situation.

If the denominator is 5 and if you add 3 to both you said it would be 3/4 so the equation would be an empty box above the 5 in a fraction form and then you can put an equation sign in the middle of the two fractions like this:

[]/5 = 3/4
