Hangeul day is a celebration of the creation of the Korean alphabet. It can be said that Korean people celebrate or commemorate this day (October 9th) in order to honor King Sejong, who wanted to create an alphabetical system that could help people learn how to read and write more easily than using the Chinese characters. Moreover, it is said that Hangeul alphabet has contributed to the accomplishments of Korea. It is definitely a day in which Koreans feel proud of their history and success.
