The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

How does the Curse of Ham justify enslavement of Africans?
-In Genesis, Ham was an evil and wicked son whose own father cursed him.
-Noah refused to let Ham and his descendants on to the ark.
-The Bible says the Noah cursed Canaan as a slave to his uncle's children.
-After committing terrible acts, Ham and his descendants escaped to Africa and God commanded that they should become slaves.
