You can talk about different causes depending on the country that is analyzed, but there are factors that generate inequality and occur in almost all unequal societies. 1. Unjust tax systems: the government creates public policies that make the poor pay more taxes and the rich have more and more exemptions, which allows the concentration of wealth to be sharpened. 2. Public investment: from the government, greater benefits are granted to certain social groups and generally exclude those from the lower class. This difference in investment causes the social gap to grow rapidly in a country. 3. Unfair distribution of land: throughout the world, wealth and specifically land is increasingly concentrated and this does not allow the social gap to diminish. According to the FAO in Latin America, 1% of the population concentrates more than 50% of the land. All these factors are aggravated by the corruption that occurs in most unequal countries and is maintained from generation to generation.
