This case was about Ernesto Miranda a man who was charged with r*ape, k*idnapping, and r*obbery. He was not informed of his rights prior to the police investigation. He allegedly confessed the crimes, the police recorded it and used the confession at trial. The US Supreme Court ruled a 5-4 decision based that Miranda’s confession could not be used in the trial, because Miranda was not informed of his right to an attorney and against self-incrimination, the court said that the fifth amendment protects people from “to be a witness against himself”.
