What would be a good story line for a short story childrens book with a hidden moral about "Self-acceptance takes time, but comes with a big reward"

I once did a storyline about how a dragon felt out of place and self conscious because he seemed like a monster but was in fact friendly and he thought no one liked him because of how he looked, but towards the end he realizes that people like him that way and think he’s cool??
