Answer:

A biomass is the organic matter produced at each level of energy transfer in a food chain. Gross primary productivity is the rate at which the main producers of the ecosystem produce chemical energy called as biomass at a specific time. Net primary productivity is the rate at which plants trap sunlight energy to conduct photosynthesis and produce their own food. Both gross and primary production is dependent upon abiotic factors like soil, air, water, temperature, sunlight and weather. But water and air are main abiotic factors which are chief components in biomass of each biome. Water and air are responsible for providing minerals and nurishment to organisms. Respiration, photosynthesis are chiefly dependent on water and air in living organisms.
