Eric isn't sure why a solution to a system of inequalities cannot be on a dotted line of a graph. Explain why points on the dotted line of an inequality can't be in the solution set.

A dotted line is used for less than or greater than

A solid line is used for less than or equal to and greater than or equal to.


To be a solution it must be shaded so it is above (or below ) the line .

If it is equal to the inequality, it would have to be a solid line.
