Find the prime factorization of 5

5 = 5

Find the prime factorization of 6

6 = 2 × 3

Multiply each factor the greater number of times it occurs in steps i) or ii) above to find the lcm:


LCM = 2 × 3 × 5

LCM = 30

5: 5, 10 , 15 , 20 , 25 , 30

6: 6, 12 ,18, 24, 30

30 is the least common multiple of 5 and 6.
