Let’s say that the other one is described as X. So if one piece is twice as long as the other one, it’ll be 2x.

2x + X =111
3x = 111
3x divided by 3= 111 divided by 3
X= 37

So 2x = 2(37) = 74
X = 37

Answer:

The length of the short part is 37 inches, and the length of the other part is 74 inches.

Explanation:

Given:

Total length of the stick = 111 inches.

One piece is twice as long as the other.

To Find:

Length of the two pieces=?

Solution:

Let the length of one piece be n,

Then the other piece will be 2n.

Now, total length of stick = n + 2n

=>111 inches = 2n + n

=>111 = 3n

=>
n =(111)/(3)

So, length of short path is 37 inches,

Then length of other part is

=> 2(n)

=>2(37)

=> 74 inches.

Hence, the length of the short part is 37 inches, and the length of the other part is 74 inches.
