So basically it's a lot of collecting like terms, but x=6
34 + 6x = 2 + 4(4x - 7)-example-1

x = 6

distribute the bracket on the right side of the equation and simplify

34 + 6x = 2 + 16x - 28

34 + 6x = 16x - 26 ( subtract 16x from both sides )

34 - 10x = - 26 ( subtract 34 from both sides )

- 10x = - 60 ( divide both sides by - 10 )

x = 6
