A triangle is equal to 180 degrees. 50 plus 60 is 110 degrees, so y is equal to 70 degrees. If y is 70 degrees then that means that x is 110, because they both equal to 180, due to their placement.

We know that Sum of Three Angles in a Triangle is 180

⇒ ∠y + 50 + 60 = 180

⇒ ∠y + 110 = 180

⇒ ∠y = 180 - 110

⇒ ∠y = 70

We can notice that ∠x and ∠y form a Linear Pair (180)

⇒ ∠x + ∠y = 180

⇒ ∠x + 70 = 180

⇒ ∠x = 180 - 70

⇒ ∠x = 110
