Hi!

3.28$ = 328 cents

8 1/5 ounces = 41/5 ounces

We will find the unit cost, cents per ounce, using proportions, like this:

328 cents for 41/5 ounces

x cents for 1 ounce

________________________

x = (328*1)/(41/5)

x = 328/(41/5)

x = (328*5)/41

x = 1640/41

x = 40

Unit cost = 40 cents per ounce.

Hope this helps!
