How did the Fugitive Slave Act, 1793, compromise Northern abolitionists?

Hello,
The reason that the fugitive slave act compromised Northern Abolitionists is that it allowed slave owners to cross into the north in order to recover their slaves, whereas before when a slave escaped into the North, they were not allowed to be pursued and considered free.
Hope this helps!
