What are the general characteristics of sexual reproduction in humans and other vertebrates that are associated with continues production of many sperm cells but intermittent, finite production of egg cells?

It allows an offspring to have be the beneficial traits it needs to survive through an environment since sexual reproduction involves with 2 parents. 50% of the traits has been passed on to the offspring and the other 50% has been passed on from another parent.
