How could natural disasters have contributed to the decline of Indus Valley civilization?

‘Natural disasters’ seems a bit over the top. Evidence has been found of sustained drought, which would have been detrimental to agriculture, the basis of any ancient civilization. In addition it has been suggested that river course change may have left some cities without access to irrigation waters.
