Why are there no stanzas in Patrica Hubble’s The Black Snake

The reason is that the author didn't want to slow down the poem or have the reader pause for too long.

A stanza is an arrangement of a certain number of lines (usually 4 or more) sometimes having a strict length, meter, or rhyme scheme, forming a division of a poem.
