Inca society was rather complex, social classes were markly stated but there were many subtle difference from one to the other. In this middle part of the social structure, there were the Curacas or local leaders of defeated tribes, the tax collectors and the artisans. None of them were considered noble or high class, but they also had better status and rights that the Commoners.
