Explain how you can determine if 1/3 and 4/12 are equivalent fractions

all u can do is take 4/12 and divide the numerator and denominator by 4 to get 1/3. Hope that helps!

original fraction:


(1)/(3)

if we multiply the numerator 1 and the denominator 3 by 4, we get:


(1*4)/(3*4) =(4)/(12)

we find that
(4)/(12) is an equivalent fraction of 1/3 because we can find it by multiplying the numerator and denominator of 1/3 by the same number. In this case that number is 4.
