6(x + y) + (x - y) =

First, distribute the 6. Also, remove the second set of parentheses since it is unnecessary.

= 6x + 6y + x - y

Now add like terms. Remember that x is the same as 1x, and y is the same as 1y.

= 7x + 5y

Answer: 7x + 5y
