Hunger is meassured by the amount of people in a country which suffer from undernourishment, or the inability to have enough food to maintain a person´s good health and condition. Undernourishment is calculated by comparing the amount of food available in one country versus the food consumption in all social groups within it.

Through Public Policy, a government can subsidize certain foods as a short-term strategy for appeasing hunger. This will make these products more accessible to people with lower acquisitive power. A long-term strategy would be to promote the growth of a country´s economy through government spending. This would eventually create more jobs that will upgrade the purchasing power of lower-income people. As a result, they will be able to buy goods that they were not able to purchase before.
