The fault is towards the bottom of the diagram, so thats means that is would b e fairly new because the fragments/ particles that settle on the top are old and worn down. The fragments at the top are eventually at the top because of wind erosion in the layers. IM SO SORRY if this does not help you this was really the only way i could explain. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT

The fault would be recent or new since the fault in the figure is closer to the ground floor/ bottom.
