Between 1800 and 1860, there were widespread arguments about the morality and validity of slavery. The 2nd Great Awakening filled a greater Protestant religion into American society and culture. Religions people were successful in imposing reforms in society in the form of abolitionism, women's rights, and the reform of prostitution and alcoholism.
