Team = singular

Team is a collective noun because a team is made up of many people. For example, on a basketball team there must be at least 5 people to play a regulation game. A collective noun is one that is made up of a group.

Team is singular. Even though there are many people on a team, the team itself is one thing. Together the people work together to become one by working toward a common goal.
