an = n^2 - an-1

a5 = 14.25

a5 = 5^2 - a4

14.25 =25 -a4

subtract 25 from each side

-10.75 = -a4

a4 = 10.75

a4 = 4^2 - a3

10.75 = 16 -a3

subtract 16 from each side

-5.25 =-a3

a3 =5.25

a3 = 3^2 -a2

5.25 =9-a2

subtract 9 from each side

-3.75 = -a2

3.75 =a2

a2 = 2^2 -a1

3.75 =4-a1

subtract 4 from each side

-.25 =-a1

.25 =a1

a1=.25

a2=3.75

a3=5.25
