What are decomposer and what do they do

Decomposers break down dead plants, animals, and wasted of other organisms. What they do is they give plants essential nutrients, and dead matter and waste would pile up. They use organic substrates to get their energy, carbon and nutrients for growth and development. Hope this could help.
