The three main functions of the digestive system are digestion, absorption, and elimination. Digestion is the process of breaking down food into nutrients and enzymes which can be useful for your body. Absoprtion is the process in which blood abosrbs the nutrients that come from the food to the rest of the body. Elimination occurs when the food molecules are abosrbed.
