The correct answer is D. The Delhi sultanate was the government of the Muslim Turks in India.

Sultanate of Delhi is the term used to designate five short-lived dynasties of India, sultanates with capital in Delhi of Turkish origin.

Qutb-al-Din Aibak, a former slave of Muhammad of Ghor, was the first Sultan of Delhi, and his dynasty conquered large areas of northern India. Then, the Khalji dynasty was able to conquer most of central India, but both failed to unite the Indian subcontinent. The Sultanate was noted for being one of the few states that repeatedly defeated the Mongol Empire.

The Sultanate marked the beginning of a period of cultural rebirth of India. The resulting fusion of Indo-Muslim cultures left lasting syncretic monuments in architecture, music, literature, religion and dressing. In 1526, the Sultanate of Delhi was absorbed by the emerging Mughal Empire.
