Roosevelt's overwhelming victory in the 1932 election allowed him to launch his new policy called The New Deal. Roosevelt had an active political position in the beginning of the depression and during the election in 1932 Roosevelt had an easy victory over Hoover. Unemployment in America was dramatic in that period, about 11 million people were left without jobs. Roosevelt's policy gave them hope and trust.
