Explanation:

c) The total mass of hydrogen and oxygen is equal to the mass of the water. You can subtract the oxygen mass from the water mass to get the hydrogen mass. This is done in the attached table.

d) You can find the constant of proportionality the same way you did for part (b), by dividing the Hydrogen grams by the Water grams. It is 1.1/10 = 0.11.

Since the total of Oxygen and Hydrogen is the mass of water, you can also find the constant of proportionality by subtracting that of Oxygen from 1:

... 1 - 0.89 = 0.11
