Akhenaten abandoned the traditional polytheism of the Egyptians introducing a worship centered on Aten. This was not the only god but according to Akhenaton, Aten was above any othe god; in other words, these others were merely minor deities. Aten was shown as a disk sun with irradiating rays like arms.
