In the "Story of the Door" Utterson and Enfield are two respected lawyers that frequently walk together but never talk to each other. One day they were having their regular sunday stroll when they pass by a neglected building that looks out of place in the neighborhood. Enfield then tells a story that happened one night in that building. He witnessed a man that crashed into and trample a young girl. The people that witnessed the incident judged the man as he was ugly, so the man blackmailed all the people with money.
