Elizabeth Proctor, Abigail William and John Proctor are main characters of the play The Crucible, which was written by American playwright Arthur Miller in 1953. The play is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story about the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692 and 1693. John Proctor, is the protagonist of the story and plays the role of a local farmer who is married to Elizabeth Proctor, who finds out that he is having an affair with antagonist Abigail William, who is one of the servant of the Proctors. After finding this, Elizabeth fires Abigail, who still harbors feelings for John and strongly believes that he does as well, but unfortunately for her he does not.
