Chantal was eating raisins and a few of them fell into her glass of drinking water. She finished eating the rest of the raisins. When she went to dump out the water in her glass, she observed that the raisins had become swollen. Why would this have happened? A. The water content from the raisins moved into the glass of water. B. The water in the glass entered the raisins. C. The grapes used for making the raisins weren’t properly dried. D. The raisins were bad-quality raisins and therefore were swollen.

B is the answer. Dry raisins swell up because they undergo Endosmosis. When a rasin is put in water then the water passes through the semipermeable membrane

Answer:

Option B, The water in the glass entered the raisins

Step-by-step explanation:

The concentration of water with in the resin is much lower than that of the glass of drinking water. Due to this difference in concentration, a concentration gradient is established which forces the water to move from region of high concentration (i.e glass) to the region of low concentration (i.e with in the resin) thereby causing the resins to swell.

Hence, option B is correct.
