The universal sundial was invented by an astronomer of the name Theodosius of Bithynia, this sundial being the same design in Rome 293 BC, the Romans adopting it from the Greeks.

The mathematician and astronomer Theodosius of Bithynia (ca. 160 BCE-ca. 100 BCE ) is said to have invented a universal sundial that could be used anywhere on Earth.
